Description of Effort:
Sandia National Laboratory is using XML for structured documents, data and metadata exchange, and software component parameter/message passing. Sandia has developed data type definitions (DTDs) for detailing Use Cases, engineering authorizations, and other internal structured documents; and is working with the Object Management Group (OMG) XML Metadata Interchange (XMI) for XML encoding and exchange of UML model content.
